Who We Are
With the support of the Illinois Program for Research in Humanities at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, over the past two years, the IPRH Playful by Design Research Cluster has transformed into an active interdisciplinary game studies network comprising faculty, staff, and students from more than two dozen units, programs, and initiatives across the campus as well as members of many businesses, organizations, and clubs in the Champaign-Urbana and greater Central Illinois areas.
Members of the Playful by Design community make games, play games, teach game design, use playful approaches in our classrooms, libraries, and museums. Together we are exploring playful pedagogies, developing digital learning environments, making use of playful design methods, and engaging in research on play, playful design, games, gaming, and gamers from every possible disciplinary angle.
